Interview About Accessibility on the Home Recording Show Podcast

August 11th, 2010
The Home Recording Show is a podcast about recording audio in the home/project studio. Ryan Canestro one of the hosts from the podcast interviewed me last January about  the state of accessibility for blind musicians. I had a really nice time chatting with him and I was glad to share with folks who aren’t visually impaired, the plight for accessibility for the musician who is visually impaired. listen at
Since the interview Pro Tools 8.04 has been released with the previously mentioned new accessibility with Voice Over on the Mac. Finally musicians who are blind or visually impaired can now use the current version of Pro Tools. We are still working with Avid (formally known as Digidesign) to further the accessibility of Pro Tools and address all the remaining issues that are currently not resolved.

Twikini Version 1.1 is Released for Windows Mobile

May 22nd, 2009

Well if you haven’t tried Twitter yet, what are you waiting for! Everyone is jumping on the Twitter bandwagon: even such big household names like Oprah are now on Twitter.

Once your Twitter account is up and functional, you can monitor your feed in a number of ways. The most convenient way is on your mobile phone and that’s how I like to Tweet! For a while I tried using Twitter’s web interface. It wasn’t bad, but it lacked allot of nice features that the other popular clients offered. When I first downloaded Twikini I was blown away with its usability. I tried to find other aps that would work with Windows Mobile, but they were all inaccessible for my screen reader Mobile Speak. Finally a Windows Mobile Twitter ap that gives you all the functionality you need to be a power Twitter user and is also accessible for the visually impaired community. It Even works with my Pac-Mate(a portable note-taker for the blind based on Windows Mobile 6.1)!

The folks at trinket software http://www.trinketsoftware.com/Twikini
did a great job with Twikini and it continues to be developed daily: there are frequent updates that fix its operation and add functionality. It comes with different themes so you can configure the look of the interface to your liking. The developers favorite is Lounge.

So to summarize, if you have a Windows Mobile device or phone and are looking for the killer Twitter ap: look no further! Twikini is it!
